Adoptions A primary goal for Hope For Tomorrow's adoption staff is matching the right strengths in an adoptive family with each specific child’s needs. We actively recruit Christian families with a wish to adopt. Post-placement is a time for HFT to shine in our services to you. Our support includes emotional support, problem solving, and referrals to community resources needed
by the child or family. HFT works closely with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), the adoptive parents, and the child by creating a support network that will
be there for each component of the triad (DFPS, child, and adoptive parents) throughout the adoptive process. HFT will guide a family to appropriate legal services to finalize the
adoption. Referrals are made to appropriate post adoption contractors prior to the legal consummation
of the adoption.
Prospective adoptive parents must be at least 21 years of age, gainfully employed and
able to sustain cost of the adoptive placement and support the child, a married or single
parent family are acceptable, have life insurance for each parent, and has a normal life expectancy or a medical statement explaining your ability to care for a child on a long-term basis.
DFPS children are primarily those identified as special needs children. They have
diagnosed physical, medical, and/or developmental impairments, are most often ages
six to seventeen, include sibling groups of two or more, frequently are minority children,
are children with emotional issues, and are children with behavioral issues requiring therapeutic care. All children adopted from DFPS are eligible for state paid college tuition
and post adoption services through a local contractor. The special needs children qualify families for additional benefits.
